Job Description:
London Fire Brigade is seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Finance Business Partner to provide high-quality financial support across two of its key directorates. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in a high-profile public service organisation while contributing to critical business planning and financial decision-making.
Contract: 3-month (possibility of further extensions), full time, Monday to Friday
Location: Southwark – hybrid work, 2 days in the office and 3 days from home
Pay rate: £461.94 per day via PAYE or £603.94 per day via Umbrella
About the Role
As a Senior Finance Business Partner, you will act as the strategic financial advisor to two directorates, each with budgets ranging between £5–10 million. The majority of spend relates to staffing costs, so a strong understanding of workforce-related expenditure, forecasting and financial modelling will be essential.
You will work closely with the Directors of each area, meeting monthly to review financial performance, highlight emerging risks, and provide insightful analysis that supports informed decision-making. Relationship-building will be a central focus, as you will need to partner effectively with senior stakeholders across Communications and People Services, ensuring financial information is communicated clearly and confidently.
The role includes line management responsibility for one direct report, as well as involvement in key financial cycles including budget setting, forecasting and year-end preparation. You will also ensure accurate and timely use of SAP, the organisation’s financial system. Capital finance experience is not required, as the role focuses exclusively on revenue activity.
Key Responsibilities
*Provide strategic finance business partnering to two directorates, acting as the primary financial contact.
*Manage and coach one direct report to support high-quality financial outputs.
*Meet monthly with Directors to review performance, forecasts and financial risks.
*Lead on budgeting, forecasting and financial planning for both directorates.
*Analyse workforce-related spend and provide clear, actionable insight.
*Build strong relationships across Communications and People Services to support effective financial decision-making.
*Prepare for and support year-end processes.
*Ensure accurate use of SAP and uphold compliance with financial procedures.
*Translate complex financial information into clear, accessible guidance for non-finance stakeholders.
If you have the required experience and skillset, apply now for immediate consideration.
