Finance Assistant

Join a well-established and internationally recognised logistics company as a Finance Assistant. This role offers an exciting new challenge within our dynamic, fast-paced Finance team. As a Finance Assistant, you will manage supplier payments, customer receipts, reconcile supplier statements, chase outstanding debts, and support month-end processes. This position is ideal for someone looking to develop their skills and advance their career in a supportive and professional environment.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Receive, review, and process supplier invoices in accordance with company policies.
*Reconcile supplier accounts by matching invoices on our system with supplier statements.
*Resolve discrepancies with operations or suppliers.
*Prepare weekly or monthly payment runs including BACS, CHAPS, and international payments.
*Maintain accurate accounts payable ageing reports.
*Contact customers professionally to follow up on outstanding invoices via phone, email, and letters.
*Monitor customer accounts for timely payments and identify overdue balances.
*Prepare and send monthly account statements and make courteous reminder calls.
*Assist with posting and accurately allocating incoming payments.
*Support month-end processes, including reconciliations and ledger updates.
*Highlight potential credit issues to managers promptly.
*Assist in resolving invoice and payment queries, ensuring debts are collected in line with KPIs.
*Prepare regular aged debt reports and escalate problem accounts as needed.
*Undertake ad hoc duties as required, including reception support, filing, post handling, and data entry.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Previous experience in Accounts/Finance with a focus on Accounts Payables and/or Receivables.
*Enthusiasm for learning and developing a career in finance.
*Confident communication skills with strong interpersonal abilities.
*Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
*Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
*Quick learner, reliable, and conscientious with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
