Mechanical Design Engineer - Contract | Hybrid Working We are looking for a Contract Mechanical Design Engineer to support the delivery of high-quality mechanical design solutions. Working across a variety of projects, you will produce 3D models, technical drawings, and documentation while championing a right-first-time approach.
Key Responsibilities *Design and develop mechanical equipment and systems to project briefs
*Produce accurate 3D models, drawings, and manufacturing documentation
*Manage drawings, BoMs, and models using internal systems
*Review colleagues’ designs and participate in design reviews
*Ensure compliance with standards, regulations, and ISO 9001 processes
*Improve designs through DfMA and value-engineering practices
Experience *Strong 3D CAD capability (Autodesk Inventor preferred)
*Good knowledge of BS 8888 technical drawing standards
*Solid understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes
*Clear communication skills and the ability to work to deadlines
*High attention to detail with a commitment to quality
Desirable *Relevant engineering qualification (HNC, Degree, etc.)
*Experience with PDM systems (Autodesk Vault preferred)
*Knowledge of machinery design standards, bulk material handling, or conveyor systems
