Essential Skills & Experience
*Proven background in the defence sector
*Strong systems engineering foundation operating at a high level
*Experience across multiple complex projects within a programme not a single-project specialist
*Skilled problem solver able to navigate ambiguity and technical challenges
*Confident communicator with experience managing diverse internal and external stakeholders
*Demonstrable leadership, capable of acting as the right hand to senior engineering leadership
*Experience guiding cross-functional technical teams (hardware, firmware, software, systems, testing)
*Strong grounding in systems engineering lifecycle, requirements development and ISO/IEEE/IEC standards
*Ability to make balanced, risk-based engineering decisions and present to senior customers
The Role
As Systems Lead, you will own the systems work packages across a major programme, ensuring full lifecycle alignment and delivery against quality, schedule and budget. You will provide technical leadership, define system solutions, guide Principal System Leads, run design reviews and influence architecture, risk management and delivery strategy.
You will be a key contributor to the growth and maturity of the systems engineering function, shaping capability development, mentoring others and helping steer the discipline forward.
