Role: LGR Project Lead
Location: East Midlands (Hybrid – 2–3 days onsite)
Day Rate: £400-£450 per day (negotiable depending on experience) (IR35 status yet to be determined)
Duration: 3-6 months initially


Purpose of the Role
To provide coordination and oversight support during a Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) programme, ensuring internal workstreams are effectively managed alongside business-as-usual activity. This role will play a key part in establishing and embedding PMO-style governance, controls and reporting mechanisms to support the organisation’s contribution to the wider LGR programme.


This is an internally focused delivery role centred on governance, planning and coordination rather than external system representation.


Key Responsibilities
*Coordinate and oversee LGR-related activity across the organisation.
*Develop and embed proportionate PMO-style governance structures to support programme delivery.
*Establish clear reporting rhythms, documentation controls and tracking mechanisms.
*Manage plans, timelines, risks and interdependencies across workstreams.
*Coordinate data collection and information requests from the central LGR programme.
*Work with Legal and corporate teams to collate contracts and required documentation.
*Support services in preparing for transition (e.g. structural changes, branding, systems).
*Act as the central coordination point to ensure accurate and timely programme reporting.
*Provide progress updates to senior leadership.
Experience Required
*Proven project management experience within local government.
*Experience operating within or supporting PMO or programme governance environments.
*Strong governance, reporting and coordination capability.
*Experience working in politically sensitive or complex environments.
*LGR experience desirable but not essential.
*Ability to operate effectively within capacity-pressured organisations.
