A major London hospital trust is seeking a skilled Mechanical Craftsperson (Plumber) to join its in-house Estates team, supporting the safe and reliable operation of critical mechanical systems across a busy, multi-site healthcare estate. This hands-on role is essential to ensuring high-quality environments for patients, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
*Perform statutory, routine, and reactive mechanical maintenance to ensure safe, compliant operation of building services.
*Carry out fault-finding, mechanical repairs, minor installations, and weekly/monthly testing including water safety tasks.
*Support mechanical contractors, apprentices, and wider Estates colleagues, helping maintain continuity of service across all sites.
*Follow Trust policies, safe systems of work, and permit processes, ensuring compliance with Health & Safety legislation and HTMs.
*Liaise professionally with service users, clinical teams, and partners to support safe, effective maintenance delivery.
About You
*Recognised apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in plumbing.
*Strong experience in mechanical maintenance, ideally within healthcare environments.
*Good working knowledge of HTMs, Health & Safety requirements, and safe systems of work.
*Confident carrying out planned and reactive tasks independently and as part of a team.
