Learning Support Assistant (LSA) - SEN Secondary Unit
Location: Brentwood
Start Date: After Easter Holidays
Contract Type: Full-time (term-time only)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a small, supportive SEN secondary unit in Brentwood. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people with special educational needs.
You will work closely with teaching staff to support students with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. The role involves both 1:1 and small group support, helping students to access learning, build confidence, and develop independence.
Key Responsibilities
*Provide tailored support to students with SEN in and out of the classroom
*Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
*Support students with emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies
*Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets
*Foster a safe, nurturing, and positive learning environment
*Build strong, supportive relationships with students and staff
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
*Experience working with children or young people with SEN (preferred but not essential)
*A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
*Strong communication and teamwork skills
*A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs
*The ability to remain calm and adaptable in a dynamic environment
