Job Description:
General Builder / General Maintenance Operative
*Location: Reading
*Job Type: Permanent, Full-time
*Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday-Friday (flexibility required)
*Salary: Competitive, with additional payments for on-call duties
Join our Clients Maintenance team as a General Builder / General Maintenance Operative, where you will be integral in maintaining the structural integrity and functionality of a diverse property portfolio. This role is ideal for a skilled individual with a background in building trades and a proactive approach to both planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
*Work independently or with maintenance teams to diagnose and repair faults in building services or fabric.
*Carry out routine reactive and preventative maintenance tasks
*Perform basic plumbing and carpentry maintenance tasks
*Conduct minor repairs to roofing, guttering, pavements, and masonry.
*Support the excavation and repair of drainage pipework or burst water mains, following safety protocols.
*Install concrete or wooden ramps including associated handrails, ensuring compliance with listed building regulations.
*Use MEWPs, cherry pickers, or scaffolding to safely access work areas, maintaining barriers and signage for safety.
*Maintain accurate documentation and records using the CAFM system.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Recognised apprenticeship or equivalent in a relevant trade.
*Relevant NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent qualifications.
*Experience in building maintenance within a reactive and preventative maintenance environment.
*Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent time management and organisational skills.
*Proficiency in using tablets and other digital devices for job tracking and documentation.
*Good communication skills with a client-facing attitude.
*Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
