Experienced SEN Teaching Assistant - Stockport(Full-Time)
Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Stockport, Greater Manchester
Start Date: Monday 13th March 2026
Contract Type: Full-time, Temp to Perm
Salary: Competitive, based on experience and responsibilities
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
About the School
We are working with a welcoming and inclusive SEN school in Stockport that supports students aged 11-19 with a range of additional needs. The school is committed to providing a nurturing, structured, and positive environment where every learner can achieve their potential.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs to make a meaningful difference every day.
What We’re Looking For:
A SEN Teaching Assistant who can/has:
*Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional needs, including SEMH.
*Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and differentiated learning activities.
*Promote positive behaviour, routines, and emotional regulation strategies.
*Help track progress and work closely with teachers, support staff, and families to ensure consistency in support.
*Encourage independence, resilience, and confidence in learners across the secondary age range.
*Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN and/or SEMH needs (school, care, or youth setting).
*A calm, patient, and proactive approach to supporting learning and managing behaviour.
*Strong communication and teamwork skills to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
*Knowledge of SEN and SEMH strategies, with the ability to adapt to individual needs.
*Relevant qualifications in education, care, or support are desirable but not essential.
To be eligible you must:
*Right to work in the UK.
*Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).
*Two professional references (preferably from child-related roles).
