Job Description:
Job Title: Domestic Waste Technician
Location: Grimsby, Lincoln & surrounding sites
Hours: Flexible between 7am–6pm
Contract: Temporary with potential for permanent
Travel: Multi-site role, own vehicle required initially
Overview
My client is seeking a Domestic Waste Technician to support operations across several sites, primarily Grimsby and Lincoln. This is a role that offers a slower pace of work and would suit someone self-motivated, confident and able to manage their own time. Direct waste industry experience is beneficial but not essential as full training will be provided.
This role has strong potential to develop into a permanent position, with additional training across hazardous waste sites and chemical testing for long-term staff.
Key Responsibilities
*Meet and greet drivers on site.
*Request and oversee collection of samples.
*Communicate effectively with site operatives regarding issues or concerns.
*Monitor and enforce correct PPE usage and site safety standards.
*Identify and report any unsafe or unusual activity.
*Visit and support multiple sites each day (typically one or two).
*Use downtime effectively – some sites can be very quiet.
*Support Grimsby site once per week (busier site).
Person Specification
Essential
*Self-motivated with strong initiative.
*Confident communicator, able to speak with people at all levels.
*Able to manage own workload and downtime.
*Good awareness of health and safety.
*Reliable and able to drive between sites.
*Competent using a computer and able to work under occasional pressure.
Desirable (can be trained)
*Understanding of the waste industry or tanker operations.
*Experience working on industrial or operational sites.
*Accredited sampler qualification (advantageous and expands site coverage).
Training & Development
For long-term/permanent candidates, training may include:
*Chemical testing (4–6 weeks).
*Manual handling.
*Working across hazardous waste sites within the wider department.
Initial site introductions and training will be provided. Initially required to use own vehicle for the first 1–2 weeks (subject to review). Flexibility offered for appointments (e.g., dentist, school run).
If this sounds like the right role for you, apply now or get in touch directly.
