Transport Supervisor
12-Month Contract (Potential to Go Permanent)
Location: Just outside of Basildon - Must drive due to location
Salary:£35,000 – £37,500
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00–17:30
Hybrid: Possibility of 1–2 days WFH per week once completed probation and training
We are recruiting for a Transport Supervisor on a 12-month contract, with a strong possibility of becoming permanent. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in logistics or transport who enjoys problem-solving, multitasking, and keeping operations running smoothly.
About the RoleYou’ll support the transport and logistics functions of the business, working closely with commercial, procurement and production teams. You’ll oversee product movement, maintain accurate documentation, coordinate daily logistics schedules, and ensure excellent communication with UK and international customers.
Key Responsibilities*Manage daily logistics schedules for goods in and out.
*Ensure smooth, timely deliveries in line with ADR/IMDG/IATA standards.
*Maintain accurate and compliant transport/shipping documentation.
*Monitor and evaluate third-party logistics providers.
*Share freight and transport rates with the commercial team promptly.
*Support customs and transport administration processes.
*Assist with routine and ad-hoc tasks to maintain efficient operations.
What We’re Looking For*Strong communication skills with UK and overseas customers.
*Experience working directly with customers or suppliers.
*Import/export or customs knowledge is helpful (not essential).
*Confident with Microsoft Office 365 + CRM/ERP experience advantageous.
*Highly organised, good planner, able to multitask effectively.
*Calm under pressure with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Performance Expectations*Respond to customer communication within 1 hour.
*Action orders and issue confirmations within 2 hours.
*Maintain appropriate levels of key stock products.
*Follow up on all quotes for customer feedback.
*Raise and close non-conformances within agreed timescales.
*Effectively use relevant systems (ERP, CRM, CDS, Descartes).
*Follow internal processes and procedures consistently.
