About the Role
We are recruiting for 2 permanent vacancies for Trading Standards Officers and looking for highly motivated and experienced Trading Standards Officers to join a dedicated and well-established team serving the communities of Leicestershire.
You will be involved in a wide range of regulatory and enforcement work, including:
*Fair trading
*Doorstep crime and rogue traders
*Consumer protection
*Illicit tobacco and illegal vape products
*Complex criminal investigations
These roles require the ability to lead investigations, prepare high-quality case files for legal proceedings, and work within CPIA and PACE requirements. Protecting vulnerable consumers and maintaining high professional standards are central to the role.
One position focuses primarily on complex fair-trading investigations involving multiple victims.

The second position is part of the operational team tackling illicit tobacco and illegal vapes, supporting colleagues with enforcement and seizure activity.

A valid UK driving licence is essential.
About You
To be considered, you should have:
*A relevant qualification in trading standards, regulatory compliance, or a related legal discipline.
*Strong evidence of continuous professional development in enforcement or regulatory work.
*Extensive experience conducting criminal investigations, particularly fraud-related, and preparing evidential material for court.
*The ability to interpret and apply legislation confidently within a regulatory or criminal enforcement context.
*Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage competing workloads.
*Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal.
*Supervisory or mentoring experience within an operational environment.
