Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: North Manchester
Contract Type: Full-Time (After Easter Holidays - End of Academic Year, with potential extension into September 2026)

About the Role:
Aspire People are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream secondary school in North Manchester, seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team after the Easter holidays. This is a full-time position running until the end of the academic year, with the strong possibility of extension into the next academic year (September 2026).
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
* Support students with sensory processing needs, including delivering sensory circuits
* Assist students with Occupational Therapy (OT) interventions and activities
* Help develop students’ functional skills for both academic learning and daily school life
* Support with handwriting, fine motor skills, and cognition and learning strategies
* Promote independence, including assisting with personal care where required
* Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCO, and external professionals
Ideal Candidate:
* Holds a UK Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or a SEND-related field
* Has experience working with children, ideally within a school or educational setting
* Demonstrates knowledge or experience in cognition and learning needs
* Has experience supporting students with sensory processing, OT interventions, or similar needs
* Is patient, empathetic, and committed to supporting young people’s development
* Is confident working both independently and as part of a team
Requirements:
* Previous experience working with children (essential)
* References covering the last 2 years
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain a new DBS
