Job Description:
Location: Train Station (e.g. major transport hub)
Hours: Flexible shifts (24/7 rota – days, nights, weekends)
Contract: Agency / Permanent / Bank
Role OverviewWe are seeking experienced Paramedics and EMTs to provide frontline emergency and urgent care within a busy train station environment. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality, rapid medical response to members of the public, staff, and passengers in a fast-paced, high-footfall setting.
This role requires excellent clinical decision-making, the ability to work independently, and strong communication skills when dealing with a wide range of medical situations—from minor injuries to life-threatening emergencies.
Key Responsibilities*Respond promptly to medical emergencies and incidents within the station
*Conduct patient assessments, triage, and deliver appropriate treatment
*Provide life-saving interventions including CPR, defibrillation, airway management, and trauma care
*Safely stabilise and prepare patients for transfer to ambulance services or hospital care
*Work collaboratively with emergency services including ambulance crews, police, and fire services
*Maintain accurate, contemporaneous patient records in line with clinical governance standards
*Manage crowd situations and ensure patient dignity and safety in public environments
*Provide reassurance and clear communication to patients, relatives, and bystanders
*Ensure all medical equipment is checked, maintained, and ready for use
*Adhere to infection prevention and control (IPC) procedures at all times
Clinical DutiesParamedic:
*Advanced patient assessment and clinical decision-making
*Administration of medications in line with scope of practice
*Leadership at scene and coordination with multi-agency responders
*Autonomous discharge or referral decisions where appropriate
EMT:
*Support paramedics in delivering emergency care
*Basic and intermediate life support interventions
*Monitoring vital signs and assisting with patient management
*Safe transport support where required
Essential RequirementsFor Paramedic:
*Registered with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
*Degree or Diploma in Paramedic Science
*Proven experience in emergency or pre-hospital care
For EMT:
*Recognised EMT qualification (e.g. IHCD, FREC 4 or equivalent)
*Experience in urgent or emergency care settings
For Both Roles:
*Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) / Immediate Life Support (ILS) certification
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
*Ability to remain calm under pressure
*Strong teamwork and situational awareness
*Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain)
Desirable*Experience working in high-footfall public environments (e.g. events, airports, transport hubs)
*Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification (Paramedics)
*Major incident / trauma training (e.g. PHTLS, MIMMS)
*Knowledge of safeguarding procedures
Working Environment*High-volume, fast-paced public setting
*Exposure to unpredictable and potentially challenging situations
*Requirement to stand, walk, and respond quickly across large station areas
*Shift work including nights, weekends, and public holidays
