Lead Administrator & PA to the Head of Department
Salary: Up to £36,500 DOE
Location: Chelmsford
Job Type: Full-time | Hybrid Working

As Lead Administrator & PA to the Head of Department, you’ll play a central part in driving operational excellence, leading a dedicated admin team, and ensuring the smooth running of key activities across East London and Essex. What you’ll be doing:
*Lead and coordinate the administrative functions within the department, promoting seamless collaboration with teams such as the Programme Management Office.
*Oversee effective reporting, ensuring your team is supported, informed, and working cohesively.
*Manage the Head of Department’s diary and priorities, coordinating meetings, events, and project administration, occasionally outside standard working hours.
*Develop and enhance administrative systems, streamlining processes and championing best practice.
*Build strong working relationships across the organisation.
*Provide reception cover when needed, supporting the department’s wider administrative requirements.
What we’re looking for:
*Proven experience in a senior administrative or leadership role, ideally within a similar organisational setting.
*Confident line management experience with a supportive and motivating leadership style.
*Outstanding organisation and time-management skills, able to juggle multiple priorities with ease.
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of fostering positive relationships at all levels.
*Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with experience using databases or administrative systems.
