Job Description:
Credit Controller - 12 Month FTC (Maternity Cover)
If you’re a confident Credit Controller who thrives on building relationships and isn’t afraid to pick up the phone, this could be a brilliant opportunity to step into a well-established role within a growing construction business. This position is a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave, giving you the chance to take ownership of a fully functioning ledger with a comprehensive handover from someone who has been in the role for the past five years.
This role would suit someone who enjoys being hands-on and adaptable, comfortable working in a fast-paced, down-to-earth environment where communication is key and things don’t always follow a perfect process. You’ll be given the autonomy to make the role your own, working within a supportive team while bringing your own approach to managing relationships and driving collections.
What you will be doing
*Managing your own ledger of customer accounts end-to-end
*Proactively chasing outstanding debt via phone and email
*Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients to support timely payments
*Handling queries and resolving issues to minimise delays in payment
*Maintaining accurate and up-to-date account records
*Working closely with internal teams to resolve discrepancies
*Ensuring consistent follow-ups and keeping on top of aged debt
*Supporting cash flow by driving collections and reducing overdue balances
*Managing priorities effectively in a fast-paced, reactive environment
What we need from you
*Confident and proactive communicator who enjoys being on the phone
*Strong relationship-building skills with a professional but personable approach
*Organised and able to manage your own workload independently
*Resilient and comfortable working in a busy, fast-moving environment
*Diligent with excellent attention to detail when tracking and following up debt
*Previous experience in Credit Control or a similar finance role
Benefits
*12-month FTC with a strong handover period for a smooth transition
*Flexible working pattern – 4 days in the office, 1 day from home
*Early finish every Friday (half day)
*Opportunity to take ownership of a well-run ledger and shape the role
If you’re available to start before the end of April and are looking for a role where you can really get stuck in and make a difference, we’d love to hear from you.
