The Company
Accountant - Manufacturing
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Accountant to join a growing organisation and play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and meaningful commercial support. This position is central to ensuring the business maintains high financial standards while enabling operational and strategic decision-making.
You will take ownership of monthly reporting cycles, financial controls, compliance activities, and support forecasting and budgeting processes. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, responsibility, and collaborating closely with operational teams.
The Role
The Accountant’s duties will include:
*Financial Reporting
*Prepare monthly management accounts within set reporting deadlines.
*Produce detailed variance analysis and performance reporting.
*Provide insightful financial commentary to senior leadership.
*Maintain the general ledger, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards.
*Planning & Forecasting
*Support the development of annual budgets and profit plans.
*Prepare regular financial forecasts and performance updates.
*Financial Control
*Strengthen internal controls and safeguard company assets.
*Oversee fixed asset and inventory accounting, including WIP valuations.
*Monitor job profitability and manage write-offs where required.
*Compliance & Statutory Reporting
*Manage VAT returns, PAYE submissions and statutory reporting requirements.
*Prepare supporting documentation for audits and statutory accounts
*Business Support
*Provide financial insight to support operational and strategic decisions.
*Assess the financial viability of capital and revenue projects.
*Partner with operational managers to ensure targets align with business goals.
*Team Leadership
*Support and oversee payroll, sales ledger, and purchase ledger activities.
*Provide coaching and development to finance team members.
*Continuous Improvement
*Identify and implement improvements across financial systems, processes, and reporting.
*Contribute to broader organisational improvement initiatives
The Person
The requirements are:
*Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA or approaching qualification
*Strong experience in financial reporting, controls, and analysis.
*Solid understanding of UK accounting standards and compliance requirements.
*Ability to work to tight deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
*Confident communicator capable of partnering with stakeholders at all levels.
*Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
*Experience supporting or managing transactional finance functions is beneficial.
