This role requires a hands-on approach to problem-solving, a thorough understanding of engineering principles, and the ability to assess and integrate new technologies. The engineer will also contribute to the mentorship and professional development of the team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. The success of United Utilities’ standardisation initiatives largely depends on the expertise and leadership of the Principal Standardisation Engineer.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities*Facilitate the delivery of discipline-specific work for standard products within the capital program, including design, documentation, and adherence to deadlines.
*Serve as a central figure for standard asset knowledge and assess deviations from product standards.
*Drive the integration of standardisation into the capital program, contributing to the Standardisation Strategy and its implementation.
*Develop partnerships with supply chain entities to advance market-led standard products and continuous improvement with emerging technologies.
*Mentor developing engineers and represent the company in external technical collaborations, while also providing input for corporate governance decisions.
Technical Skills & Experience*Chartered or Incorporated professional or demonstrable equivalent level of expertise
*Detailed working knowledge and experience of standardisation, procedures and technologies
*Experience in leading successful multi-disciplinary resources in a highly technical and commercial environment
*Hold a current UK/EU driving licence
