Geotechnical Director - Reading - £75,000-£80,000

An established multidisciplinary consultancy in Reading is looking to appoint a Geotechnical Director to lead technical delivery, drive business development, and oversee contractor procurement across a varied project portfolio.
This role offers a strong mix of leadership, hands-on engineering, and commercial responsibility, with projects spanning residential developments, rail infrastructure, and sustainability-focused schemes.
The Role
As Geotechnical Director, you will:
*Lead and grow the geotechnical division, setting technical standards and mentoring junior staff
*Take ownership of business development, building relationships with new and existing clients
*Oversee geotechnical design, including foundation solutions, ground improvement, and earthworks
*Manage procurement and coordination of ground investigation and specialist contractors
*Work closely with multidisciplinary teams on residential and rail projects
*Support and contribute to sustainability-led design approaches and low-carbon solutions
*Play a key role in strategic planning and direction of the business
Requirements
*Strong background in geotechnical engineering or engineering geology
*Proven experience in a senior or leadership role
*Track record in business development and winning work
*Solid technical design experience across residential and/or rail projects
*Experience managing contractors and overseeing site operations
*Chartered status (or working towards) preferred
