Functional Safety Systems Engineer – 56480
Basildon (Essex) (4 days onsite, 1 remote)
£29.59/hr rising to £38.38/hr after 12 weeks (Inside IR35)
Join a globally recognised automotive OEM’s R&D centre in Essex, working at the forefront of next-generation vehicle technology.
This role sits within a core product development team, supporting the safe delivery of complex systems across powertrain, infotainment and advanced driver features, using MBSE/SysML and aligned to ISO 26262.
Key Responsibilities
*Deliver functional safety activities in line with ISO 26262
*Model systems, interfaces and behaviours using MBSE/SysML
*Support development of safety concepts and system design
*Produce technical documentation for audits and programme milestones
*Work cross-functionally with engineering, quality and manufacturing teams
*Drive safety by design across advanced technologies
Requirements
*Experience working to ISO 26262 in a product development environment
*Strong MBSE/SysML capability
*Background in software-enabled or complex systems engineering (2+ years)
*Strong stakeholder engagement across multidisciplinary teams
*Engineering or Computer Science degree (or equivalent)
Desirable
*Experience with Cameo, MagicDraw or similar tools
*Knowledge of embedded systems or system architecture
*Experience in verification, validation or testing
