Academics Educational Recruitment is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a bright and energetic Year 2 pupil at a welcoming primary school in Huddersfield. This role is centered on providing both academic guidance and essential emotional support to help a young learner thrive in a mainstream environment.
This isn’t just a "job"-it’s an opportunity to be a consistent, calming presence in a child’s school day.
You will:
*Provide 1:1 Support: Work closely with your student to break down tasks and manage the classroom environment
*Foster Emotional Regulation: Use your experience to recognize triggers and implement de-escalation or sensory strategies
*Encourage Independence
*Collaborate: Work alongside the Class Teacher and SENDCo to track progress/adapt learning plans
What We Are Looking ForWe value lived experience as much as professional experience. We are looking for people who have:
*Proven Experience with Autism: This could be from a school role, care work, or personal experience (eg. supporting a family member)
*Patience & Resilience: The ability to remain calm and positive during challenging moments
*Adaptability: A "toolkit" of ideas to engage a child who learns differently
*A Proactive Mindset: Someone who can spot a need before it becomes a barrier
