Job Description:
Quantity Surveyor – Bishop’s Stortford
£55,000–£80,000 | Full-time, office-based (5 days per week)
A reputable regional main contractor who have been operating for over 30 years is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their thriving commercial team in Bishop’s Stortford. You’ll oversee a portfolio of refurbishment, build and fit-out projects typically ranging from £500k–£5m, working with a steady pipeline of long-term, reliable clients.
Key Responsibilities:
*Manage the commercial delivery of multiple live projects simultaneously
*Oversee monthly valuations, cost reporting and cashflow forecasting
*Lead subcontract procurement, assessment and payment processes
*Monitor project financial performance and identify risk/opportunity
*Prepare and negotiate variations and final accounts
*Ensure compliance with contract conditions and company procedures
*Work closely with site teams to track progress and maintain commercial control
*Build strong relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners
*Contribute to commercial strategy and help maintain healthy project margins
*Attend regular progress meetings and provide clear commercial updates
*Review and approve subcontractor applications and change orders
*Support programme delivery by resolving commercial issues promptly
*Maintain accurate project documentation and audit-ready records
