Finance Manager
Location: Liverpool
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 DOE
Job Type: Full time / Permanent / On-site
Reporting to: Managing Director
Responsible for: Bookkeeper
About the Company & Role
The company sits within the manufacturing sector, and specialises in the production of a range of bespoke, high-end products and services to the commercial catering sector.
This role sits at the top of their finance department, and is a mix of month-end reporting, strategic analysis, and financial insight delivery to Directors, as well as getting involved with the daily operations such as bank recs, VAT, cashflow, and management accounts - so it is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys owning the finance function and having a hands-on impact.
Key Responsibilities
*Complete monthly bank reconciliations in a timely manner, ensuring all transactions are accurately allocated and fully understood.
*Produce weekly and monthly management reports to support informed decision-making.
*Prepare and process bank payment runs, including full reconciliation.
*Maintain accurate ledgers in Sage for both management accounts and statutory reporting requirements.
*Oversee and support the bookkeeper, ensuring day-to-day transactional work is completed accurately and in line with deadlines.
*Manage credit control activities, including debtor chasing, resolving outstanding queries, and escalating issues when required to ensure timely collection.
*Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC deadlines.
*Process creditor payments promptly while actively managing daily cashflow requirements.
*Work closely with internal teams to resolve credit control matters, reduce debtor days, and support strong working capital performance.
*Support Directors with month-end reporting, analysis, and ad-hoc finance tasks.
*Ensure Sage 50 is kept accurate and up to date with timely financial information
Candidate Requirements
*Experience in a similar role.
*Advanced Excel and Sage experience.
*Confident managing daily finance operations and month-end processes.
*Strong bank reconciliations, ledgers, VAT returns, cash flow management, and credit control skills.
*Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
*Able to communicate clearly with directors and non-finance teams.
*AAT Level 4, part-qualified CIMA / ACCA or QBE.
