BSL Teaching Assistant - The Role
This school is looking for a skilled BSL Teaching Assistant to support pupils with hearing impairments in a specialist setting. The successful BSL Teaching Assistant will work closely with teachers to translate lessons into British Sign Language, ensuring full access to the curriculum.
You will support pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis, helping to develop communication, literacy, and social skills. The role will also involve supporting classroom activities, adapting resources, and promoting independence.
The ideal BSL Teaching Assistant will be confident using BSL in a classroom environment and have experience working with children or young people with hearing impairments.
BSL Teaching Assistant - The School
This is a specialist deaf school supporting approximately 60–100 pupils aged 3–19. All pupils use BSL as their primary form of communication. The school has a strong communication-focused curriculum and is typically rated "Good" by Ofsted.
