About the RoleTeachers at City of Birmingham School play a crucial role in creating high-quality, engaging and accessible learning experiences for pupils with a wide range of social, emotional and behavioural needs. You will deliver a relevant, differentiated curriculum that supports pupils to make strong progress both academically and personally.

In this role, you will contribute to planning, assessment and reporting, ensuring that teaching aligns with school aims and meets internal and external quality standards. You will maintain accurate records, monitor pupil development, and support pupils in achieving personal excellence. Collaboration is central to the role, and you will work closely with colleagues, parents/carers, and external agencies to promote pupil engagement, safeguard welfare and remove barriers to learning.

You will uphold the Teacher Standards, contribute to whole-school development, and engage positively in professional learning. As part of the school’s inclusive ethos, you will support equality of opportunity, promote positive behaviour and apply effective behaviour management strategies to ensure that learning can take place.

What We Are Looking For
We welcome applications from teachers who demonstrate:
*Strong teaching skills, with the ability to deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons across a range of phases and curriculum areas.
*Experience of working with pupils with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour or vulnerability, and confidence in applying effective de-escalation, mediation and behaviour management strategies.
*A solid understanding of assessment, including the ability to identify success criteria, track progress, and use data to inform teaching and improve outcomes.
*Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to build constructive relationships with pupils, families, colleagues and external professionals
*Good organisational and reflective practice, including the ability to plan effectively, use initiative, meet deadlines and contribute to curriculum development.
*Commitment to safeguarding, equality and inclusive practice, with the emotional resilience and professional attitude needed to support pupils with complex needs.
*A collaborative approach, working confidently as part of a team and contributing to wider school development, meetings and professional learning.
*Competence in the use of ICT to support teaching, assessment and communication.
*QTS and a willingness to engage in ongoing CPD and any required training, including physical intervention training where appropriate.
