Principal Scientist, Haematology Translational Research
We are seeking a highly motivated and adaptable scientist with expertise in immunology and/or haematology to join the Oncology Translational Research team at GSK. This is an exciting opportunity to generate high-impact translational data that advances the development of new therapeutic approaches for haematologic malignancies.
This role requires both deep scientific expertise in a core area (either characterisation of rare antigen-specific T-cell responses, complex multicellular systems, or functional characterization of myeloid cells in cancer) and the ability to pivot quickly to new techniques, models, or scientific priorities as programmes evolve. The ideal candidate will thrive in an environment where priorities can change rapidly and will bring a solutions-oriented mindset to complex translational challenges.
Key Responsibilities
As a lab-based immunologist/haematologist, you will:
*Support the establishment of our ex vivo translational model capabilities to include development and application of novel haematology translational models that can be used to support progression of GSK assets, understand MoA and evaluate combinations.
*Conduct haematology disease sample profiling (eg. From biobanks) to support exploration of patient segments that may respond to GSK assets and combinations.
*Lead scientific workstreams where goals, timelines, or priorities may evolve, demonstrating clarity, adaptability, and accountability.
*Troubleshoot complex experimental challenges and ensure delivery of reproducible, high-quality datasets to support project decisions.
*Collaborate across multidisciplinary project teams, providing scientific insights that shape translational strategy.
Why you?
Basic Qualifications & Skills:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
*PhD (or equivalent experience) in Immunology, Haematology, Cancer Biology, or a related field.

*Hands on experience of complex immunology experimental approaches (eg. Complex co-culture, ex vivo testing from patient samples etc.).

*Experience of performing independent immune cell characterization using multi-colour flow cytometry (>10 colours).

*Track record of delivering high quality data on patient derived samples.

*Deep expertise in at least one of the following core areas, demonstrated by a focused PhD project, postdoctoral fellowship, or extensive dedicated hands-on experience in industry or academia:

*Characterisation of rare antigen-specific T-cell responses (i.e. screening of peptide pools, tetramers, recall assays) - preferred.
*Complex multicellular systems (e.g., organoids, tissue models, advanced co-culture systems).
*Functional characterization of myeloid cells in cancer.
*Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-moving environment with shifting priorities.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
Please note the following skills are not necessary, just preferred, if you do not have them, please still apply:
*Expertise in haematology.
*A track record of scientific publication
*Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex scientific and business challenges
