Job Description:
Your new company
A well-established international (re)insurance brokerage is seeking a Facultative Reinsurance Broker to join its specialist Property & Energy team. The organisation has a strong footprint across Africa, the Middle East, and the Indian Subcontinent, working with global carriers, Lloyd’s markets, and regional cedants. Due to continued growth within its facultative portfolio, the firm is expanding its London broking team.
Your new role
In this role, you will act as an intermediary for complex property and energy facultative reinsurance risks, taking full responsibility for the end-to-end placement process. Some of your key responsibilities will be analysing underwriting submissions, exposure data, and risk profiles to develop tailored reinsurance solutions that meet client requirements. Further to this, you will negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with Lloyd’s and international reinsurers to ensure optimal outcomes. You will also build and maintain strong relationships with clients and global market counterparts, and you will travel to key regions when necessary to support business engagement. Additionally, you will manage all documentation and slip preparation, ensuring lead-signed placement documents are issued within required timeframes, including within 24 hours of binding. You will also identify opportunities to expand the facultative portfolio and contribute to wider business development. Throughout all activity, you will ensure compliance with FCA regulations, internal procedures, and regional regulatory requirements.
What you’ll need to succeed
To succeed in this position, you will need proven experience in facultative reinsurance, ideally within the Property or Energy sectors. You will bring strong knowledge of African insurance markets-particularly Sub-Saharan Africa, West Africa, or Nigeria-or relevant experience within Asian markets. You will demonstrate strong technical ability in risk assessment, policy wording, and market analysis, and you will be an effective negotiator with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will also take a proactive and professional approach to relationship management and client service, consistently working to deliver a high-quality experience for both clients and market partners.
What you’ll get in return
In return, you will receive a competitive salary up to £55,000 (D.O.E), along with a comprehensive benefits package. You will have the opportunity to manage a growing portfolio with renewal ratios typically above 95%, offering strong potential for professional development and recognition. You will also benefit from working within a respected and expanding international brokerage that offers clear pathways for career progression. Furthermore, you will join a collaborative and supportive team environment with a well-established presence in the reinsurance market.
