Role: Cleaner Streets OperativeLocation: Bridgend (Communities Directorate)
Pay Rate: £12.60 per hour
Shift: Full Time (37 hours per week) | Monday - Sunday (as service dictates)
The Opportunity Do you take pride in your local community? Are you looking for a physically active role where you can see the immediate impact of your hard work? We are seeking a hardworking Cleaner Streets Operative to join our Neighbourhood Services team.
In this role, you will be the frontline of our "Public Realm" initiative, ensuring that Bridgend remains a clean, safe, and beautiful place for everyone. From tackling beach waste removal to responding to weather emergencies, your work ensures high standards of hygiene across the borough.
Your Day-to-Day Working as part of a dedicated team, you will:
*Beautify the Borough: Remove litter and dog fouling, and empty public bins in specified areas.
*Clear the Way: Remove fly-tipped materials, including furniture, electrical items, and hazardous waste like tyres or paint.
*Specialized Maintenance: Assist in cleaning public conveniences, removing graffiti from council assets, and clearing blocked culverts.
*Emergency Response: Provide vital support during flooding or inclement weather, such as clearing snow and ice.
*Public Liaison: Act as a friendly face for the council, responding to general public enquiries with professionalism.
What You Bring
*Experience: A background in manual roles and the physical ability to undertake outdoor work.
*Safety First: An awareness of road safety and a commitment to following Health and Safety policies.
*Communication: The ability to chat effectively with the public and work seamlessly within a team.
*Initiative: A proactive attitude with the ability to make routine decisions to meet service needs.
*Education: A good standard of education or the ability to demonstrate competence through your previous work experience.
