Why This Role Matters

This role leads on the development and continuous improvement of MaPS’ pensions propositions, ensuring they stay aligned with emerging user needs, the MaPS Strategic Plan, evolving Government policy and the UK Strategy for Financial Wellbeing.

By working closely with DWP and translating emerging policy into practical, high-quality services, the role ensures people receive accurate, impactful pensions guidance to help them plan for and in retirement. It also drives strong collaboration across MaPS so that the organisation can effectively support those most in need and improve financial wellbeing across the UK.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead and manage end to end delivery of pension and retirement propositions, that deliver for those most in need and supports both the UK Strategy for Financial Wellbeing and MaPS strategic plan.
• Be responsible for the delivery of pensions guidance proposition continuous improvement
• To work closely with DWP to ensure that MaPS policy positions align with emerging broader Government policy.
• To understand the impact of emerging policy on MaPS services and propositions.
• Lead matrix working across the organisation, including, working closely with guidance services teams to ensure that we are delivering a high-quality and effective propositions for those most in need.

Key Accountabilities

• To develop and articulate policy positions, working with Strategy Policy and Governance that are aligned with MaPS strategic plan.
• Communicate MaPS policy and strategic positions effectively to both internal and external stakeholders, including Senior Leadership.

• Support the Head of Money & Pensions Policy and Propositions, representing MaPS externally with key stakeholders and at speaking events.

Skills & experience


• A deep experience/knowledge of pensions and retirement in the UK.


• Experience working in pension proposition development, policy or pension consulting.


• Experience of developing and maintaining strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders.


• Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to communicate complex issues clearly and confidently to non-technical audiences, face-to-face and in compelling consultation responses and briefings.


• Capability to plan and manage projects and tasks flexibly and adaptively, keeping track of timelines, budgets, and ensuring high quality propositions.
