Job Description:
Reed Talent Solutions are working in partnership with United Utilities on the search for Regional Ground Maintenance Operative workers in Walton le Dale.
Location: Walton-le-Dale WWTW
Contract: 3-month contract (with potential to go permanent thereafter)
Pay Rate: £15.09 per hour
Hours: 37h week

The role:
We are seeking a diligent and dedicated Regional Grounds Maintenance Operative. This role involves a variety of site maintenance and recovery activities on both operational and non-operational land, including grounds maintenance, vegetation management, and minor building maintenance. The successful candidate will ensure that site standards are upheld across our Water and Wastewater Treatment works and other land holdings, adhering to the company’s quality, performance, and safety standards.
The role requires you to have a full driving licence to allow you to travel to and from the required grounds.
What You’ll Be Doing
*Undertake grounds maintenance, vegetation management, soft landscaping, and ad hoc works on a variety of sites.
*Perform physically demanding tasks in outdoor environments, with exposure to and in close proximity to environmental hazards and sewerage contamination.
*Operate and maintain a range of powered and non-powered plant, tools, and equipment.
*Record completed work on corporate systems and carry out minor remedial work on non-assets.
*Contribute to the training of new starters and adhere to Health and Safety regulations.
*Identify site standard improvements and manage winter work during scheduled visits.
*Support the Team Leader in developing and implementing new works, ensuring they meet time and budget constraints while maintaining high standards.
Essential skills & experience
*Proven experience in maintenance activities such as grounds maintenance, vegetation management, and soft landscaping.
*Proficiency in using a variety of grounds and specialist machinery (e.g., mowers, strimmers, hedge cutters).
*Excellent time management skills and ability to work to schedules.
*Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
*Dynamic risk assessment capabilities and understanding of Risk Assessments.
*Exceptional customer service skills.
*Full clean driving licence.
*Ability to tow trailers (or willingness to undertake training).
*Willingness to work towards chemical application qualifications (PA6/PA6INJ/PA6W).
*Willingness to work towards NPTC Level 2 Woodchipper competence if required.
Desirable
*City & Guilds, NVQ or Lantra qualifications in land-based or agricultural disciplines.
