Job Description:
The Opportunity
We’re partnering with a highly respected international group headquartered in the North East. With a strong global footprint, this is an organisation offering both impact and long-term opportunity.
As Senior Group Financial Accountant, you’ll play a pivotal role within the central finance team, acting as a key technical specialist and support to the Head of Financial Control & Compliance. This is a broad, influential position with exposure to senior finance leadership, external auditors, advisors, and multiple international entities. You’ll take ownership of statutory reporting, group consolidations, technical accounting, and internal controls - while also contributing to transformation projects, process improvements, and ongoing enhancements of the group’s financial framework.
Key Responsibilities
Group Reporting & Statutory Accounting
*Lead the preparation of group consolidations, statutory accounts and entity-level reporting under IFRS and UK GAAP.
*Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant statutory filings across multiple jurisdictions.
*Support shareholder and lender reporting in line with established timetables.
Audit, Controls & Compliance
*Act as the day-to-day lead for external audits, coordinating information flows and driving efficient audit completion.
*Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations and maintain robust internal controls.
*Support regulatory reporting requirements and the ongoing development of group finance policies.
Tax, Treasury & Risk
*Support group tax compliance through liaison with external advisors.
*Assist with transfer pricing, intercompany reporting and treasury-related activities including FX reporting and covenant monitoring.
*Contribute to pension reporting and governance as required.
Process Improvement & Transformation
*Drive improvements and automation across reporting, close processes and controls.
*Play a key role in finance transformation projects, including ERP implementation and system upgrades.
*Identify and deliver opportunities to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and data quality.
Stakeholder Collaboration
*Act as a technical point of contact for finance colleagues and wider business stakeholders.
*Support senior finance leadership with high-quality analysis, ad hoc projects and cross-functional initiatives.
*Coach and review the work of more junior team members.
About You
We’re looking for a technically strong, ambitious finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.
You will bring:
*ACA / ACCA qualification (or equivalent).
*Excellent technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS and UK GAAP.
*Experience in statutory reporting, group consolidation and multi-entity environments.
*Strong understanding of internal controls, audit processes and compliance frameworks.
*Exposure to tax, treasury or intercompany accounting.
*Experience contributing to finance transformation or systems change projects.
*Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capability.
*A proactive, detail-focused and collaborative approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic, growing global organisation offering real scope for development, international exposure and progression.
