Role Overview
We’re recruiting for an industrial technical field sales representative to join their growing commercial team.
This is an inbound-only role — no cold calling, no outbound prospecting.
This position is a field sales role where you will be expected to visit customer sites and take full ownership over the sales aspect; using your technical knowledge, you will underpin your clients’ needs and tailor your strategies accordingly. These visits are designed to strengthen relationships, understand customer requirements in more detail, and support larger or more technical enquiries.
You’ll also handle incoming enquiries from existing customers and new prospects, follow up on live opportunities, and guide customers through the sales process. All products are bespoke and built to order, so every enquiry is different, making the role varied and engaging.
Full training is provided, and the company actively supports professional development through optional external courses.
Key Responsibilities
*Manage inbound sales enquiries from new and existing customers.
*Build and maintain strong relationships with an established client base.
*Support repeat business by providing accurate, timely information.
*Identify opportunities to grow accounts through cross selling and up selling.
*Deliver high levels of customer service and proactive follow up communication.
*Attend customer meetings or site visits to strengthen relationships and better understand requirements.
*Learn detailed product information through structured internal training (no prior knowledge needed).
*Understand customer needs and match them to suitable solutions.
*Collaborate with internal teams to ensure customers receive the correct information and bespoke solutions.
*Track and manage all open enquiries, quotations, and follow ups.
*Support smooth order handovers to internal teams once confirmed.
*Maintain accurate records and updates throughout the entire sales process.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
*Previous sales experience (telephone, internal, B2B, or similar).
*Confidence handling inbound enquiries and building rapport quickly.
*Strong communication and customer service skills.
*Ability to manage multiple enquiries and quotations simultaneously.
*Experience working in a field sales position with regular F2F or Teams meetings to grow client accounts.
Desirable
*Experience in field sales, site visits, or other client facing roles.
*Background in selling bespoke or configurable products.
*Ability to match customer needs to suitable technical solutions.
