Job Description:
Join the ranks of Hitachi Rail in Newton Aycliffe and move beyond routine maintenance. We are seeking analytically-minded Mechanical and Electrical Engineers to lead the validation and complex diagnostics of the UK’s most advanced rolling stock.
This is a high-impact role for technicians who thrive on solving "unsolvable" faults and ensuring world-class safety standards.
The Rewards
*Competitive Pay (PAYE): £21.31 (Days) | £25.57 (Backshift)
*Competitive Pay (Umbrella): £28.91 (Days) | £34.69 (Backshift)
*The Schedule: Mon-Fri rotational shifts (07:00-15:00 / 14:30-22:30).
*The Impact: Immediate start on long-term, ongoing projects at a flagship facility.
The Mission
*Advanced Diagnostics: Execute complex fault-finding using specialised tools and intricate engineering schematics.
*Systems Validation: Lead the testing of high-spec fleet trains to ensure peak performance.
*Collaborative Engineering: Partner with Lead Technicians to investigate systemic failures and provide technical feedback that shapes future reliability.
What You Bring
*Technical Foundation: NVQ Level 3 in Engineering (Minimum).
*Diagnostic Prowess: Proven experience in fault-finding or validation within high-stakes environments (Aviation, Automotive, or Renewables experience is highly valued if not from Rail).
*Blueprints: Expert-level ability to interpret complex mechanical and electrical drawings.
