Job Description:
Procurement Officer
*Organisation: Bury Council
*Job Type: 8-month Temporary Contract
*Pay Rate: £20.29 - £21.14 per hour (PAYE)
*Working Arrangement: 1-day per month in-office (Hybrid)
Bury Council are seeking a Procurement Officer to supporting category management across various service areas including Health and Adults, Housing, IT, and Facilities Management. The Procurement Officer will focus on the practical delivery of procurement exercises, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with procurement processes and legislation.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Work with Category Managers on defined portfolios such as Corporate Core, Place, Health and Care, or Children and Young People.
*Manage low to medium value or complexity procurements and support higher value or more complex procurement activities.
*Provide clear and practical advice on procurement processes and requirements to service commissioners, budget holders, contract managers, and service officers.
*Support the preparation of procurement documentation, evaluation activity, approvals, and contract award processes.
*Ensure accurate and complete records, documentation, and system data for contract mobilisation and supplier management activities.
*Utilize the Council’s procurement and financial systems effectively, including Unit4 ERP, Scanmarket, and Proactis.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Experience in framework call-offs and undertaking tenders.
*Knowledge in the following areas, in order of preference: Health and Adults, Housing, IT, Facilities Management.
*Sound understanding of procurement processes, legislation, and internal governance.
*Proficiency in using procurement and financial systems such as Unit4 ERP, Scanmarket, and Proactis.
*Strong attention to detail with an emphasis on accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
*Ability to provide practical and clear advice on procurement processes.
