We are looking for a committed, nurturing, and enthusiastic 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a wonderful Year 3 pupil in a warm and inclusive primary school in Poole. This is a unique opportunity to build a meaningful relationship, provide consistent support, and have a lasting impact on a child’s confidence, progress, and wellbeing.
About the RoleYou will work closely on a 1:1 basis with a Y3 boy who requires additional support to access learning and navigate the school day. He is a valued member of the class who benefits from structure, encouragement, and a patient, understanding approach.
This role goes beyond academic support — you will play a key part in helping him develop independence, emotional regulation, and positive relationships with peers.
Your Key Responsibilities*Provide dedicated 1:1 support tailored to individual learning and emotional needs
*Adapt classroom activities to ensure accessibility and engagement
*Support the pupil in developing focus, confidence, and resilience
*Use positive behaviour strategies to encourage engagement and self-regulation
*Build a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil
*Liaise closely with the Class Teacher, SENCo, and external professionals
*Support during unstructured times (e.g., break/lunch) to promote social interaction
*Track and report on progress, contributing to review meetings and planning

Essential qualities:
*A calm, patient, and empathetic nature
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills
*The ability to stay positive, flexible, and solution-focused
*A genuine passion for inclusive education and child development
Experience:
*Experience supporting children with SEN (in school or similar settings)
*Understanding of strategies to support learning, behaviour, and emotional needs
Highly Desirable*Experience with Autism (ASC), ADHD, or SEMH needs
*Knowledge of EHCPs and personalised learning strategies
*Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Teaching Assistant qualification)
