Job Description:
About the RoleWe are seeking a dedicated and resilient Maths Teacher to join our specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) provision in Tonbridge. This is a full-time position working with students who require additional support to engage with education due to social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering engaging and differentiated maths lessons, helping students to build confidence, develop essential skills, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.


Key Responsibilities*Plan and deliver high-quality maths lessons tailored to meet the diverse needs of SEMH learners
*Adapt teaching strategies to support students with complex social, emotional, and behavioural challenges
*Create a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment
*Monitor and assess student progress, providing clear feedback and targeted support
*Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, pastoral staff, and external professionals
*Contribute to behaviour support strategies and individual education plans (IEPs)
*Promote positive relationships and emotional wellbeing among students


Person SpecificationEssential:
*Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
*Experience working within an SEMH setting or with students with additional needs
*Strong classroom management skills and the ability to build positive relationships
*A flexible, patient, and empathetic approach
*Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Desirable:
*Experience in alternative provision or specialist education
*Training in behaviour management strategies (e.g., Team Teach)
*A strong understanding of trauma-informed practice

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
