Financial Accountant (Temp to Perm)

A well-established manufacturing business in Sunderland is seeking a Financial Accountant (temp to perm) to join its site-based finance team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified accountant to step into a broad, hands-on role with team leadership responsibility, offering a clear pathway into a Financial Controller position.
You’ll be joining a busy manufacturing environment, working closely with operations and taking ownership of key financial processes while supporting and guiding a small finance team.
The Role
As a Financial Accountant, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the finance function while developing your leadership experience.
Key responsibilities include:
*Preparing monthly financial accounts and reporting
*Maintaining strong financial controls and processes
*Supporting and leading a small finance team
*Overseeing balance sheet reconciliations and accuracy
*Supporting budgeting and forecasting
*Working closely with operational stakeholders on site
*Ensuring deadlines are met and reporting is accurate
This is a hands-on role with real responsibility and visibility across the business.
About You We are looking for a qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
You will ideally:
*Have experience in a Financial Accountant or Management Accountant role
*Be confident in financial reporting and controls
*Have experience supporting or mentoring junior team members
*Be looking to take on more responsibility and develop leadership skills
*Be comfortable working in a fast-paced, operational environment
This role is ideal for someone looking to step up and progress towards the Financial Controller level.
