Job Description:
Year 1 Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support)
Location: Mansfield (NG20)
Start Date: Monday 13th April - Ongoing
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil. The child is currently working at an Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) academic level and accesses learning within an alternative provision setting within the school.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in a child’s educational journey by providing consistent, tailored support to meet their individual needs on an ongoing basis.
Key Responsibilities
*Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with additional needs, both in the classroom and alternative provision setting
*Support learning activities adapted to EYFS level
*Assist in managing and supporting behaviour in a positive and consistent manner
*Build a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil
*Work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo, and wider staff team
*Follow and implement the child’s EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan)
*Meet the child at the start of each day and ensure a consistent handover with parents/carers
*Support the child’s social, emotional, and academic development
About the Child
*Diagnosis of Autism
*Has an EHCP in place
*Engages in learning at an EYFS level
*Benefits from routine, consistency, and a nurturing approach
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
*Hold a DBS on the update service or be willing to have one processes.
*Hold an in date safeguarding certificate or be willing to complete one
*Experience working with children with SEND, particularly Autism
*Experience supporting children with SEMH and behavioural needs
*A calm, patient, and resilient approach
*Strong communication and teamwork skills
*A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection
