Job Description:
We are partnering with a leading London-based law firm to appoint an experienced Trust & Tax Manager within its established Private Client department. This position is well suited to a professional with strong technical expertise in trust accounting, personal tax compliance and associated reporting for high-net-worth individuals, families, estates and trusts.
The successful candidate will join a high-performing team, working closely with partners, solicitors and other advisers to deliver a high-quality service across a varied portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
The role will involve managing a broad range of trust and tax matters, including:
*Preparation of self-assessment income tax returns and land disposal CGT returns for trusts, estates and individuals
*Preparation of annual trust accounts and related annual compliance requirements
*Preparation of inheritance tax returns, including exit charges, 10-year charges and the termination of life interests
*Arranging payment of tax and corresponding with HMRC as required
*Managing FATCA and CRS compliance
*Registering trusts on HMRC’s Trust Registration Service and maintaining accurate records
*Liaising with trustees, beneficiaries, investment advisers and other professionals
*Attending annual trustee meetings where appropriate
*Monitoring key dates, including beneficiary milestones and statutory filing deadlines
*Ensuring timely payment of tax across relevant matters
This position does not include any people management responsibilities.
Skills and Experience
Candidates will ideally demonstrate the following:
*Strong attention to detail and a diligent working style
*Excellent analytical and communication skills
*Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
*Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word
*Strong understanding of CCH tax and accounting software (highly desirable)
