Job Description:
1:1 Visual Impairment Support Assistant (Full-Time)
Location: Bromley-By-Bow
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:40pm
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Visual Impairment Support Assistant to join a specialist secondary school in East London that supports students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This is a rewarding opportunity for a 1:1 Visual Impairment Support Assistant to work closely with a student who requires tailored support to access learning and thrive within the school environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting independence, confidence, and engagement both in and outside the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
*Provide 1:1 support for a student with visual impairment needs
*Adapt learning materials to ensure accessibility
*Support the student’s social, emotional, and academic development
*Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals
*Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in line with the school’s ethos
As a 1:1 Visual Impairment Support Assistant, you will be instrumental in helping the student navigate both their learning and social experiences in a supportive and structured setting.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
*Have experience working with young people with Visual Impairment
*Be patient, resilient, and empathetic
*Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills
*Be a positive role model who can build trust and rapport
*Show a genuine commitment to supporting diverse communities and backgrounds
*Have experience working in SEND/SEMH settings
