General SEND Teacher

Job Description:
Are you a caring and committed teacher with a passion for supporting children with complex and additional needs, including autism (ASC), speech and language difficulties, ADHD, SEMH needs, attachment difficulties, sensory processing challenges, anxiety and trauma-related behaviours? Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Hartlepool to recruit an experienced or aspiring SEND Teacher for a nurture class. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on pupils who require a calm, consistent and relationship-focused learning environment.


About the Role
You will take lead responsibility for a small nurture cohort, providing a safe, predictable and emotionally supportive classroom where pupils can develop confidence, self-regulation and readiness to re-engage with mainstream learning. Teaching will be highly personalised, balancing academic progress with emotional wellbeing.


Key Responsibilities
*Plan and deliver differentiated, inclusive lessons aligned with individual EHCPs and support plans
*Create a nurturing learning environment that supports emotional regulation and positive behaviour
*Deliver targeted social, emotional and communication interventions (e.g. turn-taking, emotional literacy, routines)
*Build strong, consistent relationships with pupils to promote trust and engagement
*Monitor progress across academic, social and emotional outcomes and adapt provision accordingly
*Engage positively with parents/carers, providing clear communication and support
*Maintain accurate records, assessments and review documentation


Requirements
*Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
*Experience teaching pupils with SEN, ideally within a nurture class or specialist provision (primary)
*Confident in adapting the curriculum to meet individual learning profiles
*Calm, patient and reflective approach to behaviour and emotional needs
*Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice
*Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
