Financial Controller
Leeds
£60,000 - £65,000A high-growth, multi-entity business is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to take ownership of group finance operations and play a key role in driving strategic decision-making.
This is a senior position offering broad exposure across financial reporting, commercial analysis, team leadership, and process improvement within a dynamic and evolving organisation.
The RoleAs Financial Controller, you will lead the finance function across multiple entities, ensuring robust financial control, insightful reporting, and continuous improvement of systems and processes.
Key responsibilities include:
*Preparing monthly management accounts and delivering meaningful financial insights (MI)
*Producing consolidated group reports with clear commentary for senior stakeholders
*Leading budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow planning across the business
*Overseeing AP/AR, VAT, and core ledger activities
*Owning statutory accounts preparation and ensuring regulatory compliance
*Acting as the key contact for external auditors and managing the audit process end-to-end
*Delivering financial analysis to support commercial decisions and identify growth opportunities
*Driving cost optimisation and profitability improvements
*Enhancing financial systems, controls, and reporting processes
*Leading, mentoring, and developing a finance team
About YouWe’re looking for a commercially minded finance leader who can combine strong technical expertise with strategic thinking.
You will demonstrate:
*Proven experience translating complex financial data into clear, actionable insight
*Strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail
*Commercial awareness and the confidence to influence decision-making
*Excellent communication and presentation skills
*A proactive, problem-solving approach with the ability to work under pressure
*Strong leadership capability with experience managing and developing teams
*High level of IT proficiency, including accounting systems and Excel
Requirements*Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
*Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Finance Manager or Financial Controller role
*Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of UK financial regulations
*Experience managing audits, statutory reporting, and financial controls
*Advanced experience with accounting systems (e.g. Sage, Xero) and reporting tools
*Ability to build relationships with external stakeholders including auditors, banks, and advisors
