Job Description:
Job Title: SEN Intervention Tutor Maths & English (Part-Time)
Location: Tameside
Pay Rate: GBP25 per hour (starting rate)
Start Date: After Easter Half Term
Job Type: Temporary | Part-Time | Approx. 20 hours per week
We are looking for a skilled SEN Intervention Tutor to support students across Tameside who require targeted, one-to-one support in Maths and English.
This role involves working with learners with complex Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism, ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), and those working below expected levels or currently disengaged from education.
You will be responsible for delivering focused intervention to help close learning gaps, improve engagement, and build confidence in core subjects. This is a flexible, part-time role starting after the Easter half term.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver structured Maths and English intervention sessions on a 1:1 basis.
Assess learning gaps and plan targeted support to address individual needs.
Adapt teaching approaches to align with EHCP targets and learning styles.
Support behaviour, engagement, and emotional regulation through consistency.
Build strong, positive relationships to support progress and re-engagement.
Monitor progress and provide clear feedback to parents, carers, and professionals.
Essential Requirements:
Minimum 1 year of experience delivering intervention, tutoring, or teaching Maths and/or English.
Experience working with students with SEN, particularly on a 1:1 basis.
Strong understanding of intervention strategies and differentiated learning.
Confident behaviour management and adaptability.
Right to work in the UK.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
Desirable:
PGCE, QTS, or equivalent teaching qualification.
Experience supporting students with Autism, ADHD, or SEMH needs.
Background in alternative provision or targeted intervention programmes.
This role would suit a proactive, resilient tutor who is confident delivering Maths and English interventions and is passionate about helping students overcome barriers to learning in a flexible, part-time position.
