Job Description:
Our client based in Cannock is looking for a Temporary Accounts Payable Clerk on a 3-month contract. The role requires 5 days on-site with occasional travel to the Wolverhampon site, and is paying circa £17 per hour.
What you’ll do:


*Process supplier invoices accurately and efficiently using the company’s bespoke in-house accounts payable system, ensuring all entries are compliant with internal policies.
*Prepare and execute fortnightly payment runs, maintaining meticulous records and liaising with suppliers to resolve any discrepancies or queries promptly.
*Support the finance team by reconciling supplier statements and assisting with month-end closing activities as required throughout the contract period.
*Collaborate closely with colleagues across both Cannock and Wolverhampton offices to ensure seamless integration following recent business acquisition.
*Assist with onboarding new suppliers into the accounts payable system, ensuring all documentation is complete and up-to-date.
*Respond sensitively and professionally to internal and external enquiries regarding payments, fostering positive relationships built on trust and reliability.
*Maintain accurate digital and paper records in line with data protection requirements, demonstrating respect for confidentiality at all times.
*Contribute to process improvement initiatives by sharing feedback on current procedures and suggesting ways to enhance efficiency within the accounts payable function.


What you bring:


*Previous experience working within an accounts payable or finance administration role, ideally within a medium-sized organisation or similar sector.
*Proficiency in using accounting software or bespoke in-house systems for invoice processing and payment management.
*Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining high levels of accuracy.
*Strong interpersonal abilities that enable you to communicate clearly and empathetically with colleagues, suppliers, and stakeholders.
*A dependable approach to meeting deadlines for payment runs and month-end activities without compromising quality or compliance.
*Demonstrated sensitivity when handling confidential information related to financial transactions or supplier details.
*Flexibility to work between Cannock and Wolverhampton offices as needed during the contract period.
*A collaborative mindset that supports knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the finance team.
