Job Description:
Market 36 are currently looking for a Production Manager on behalf of their client based in Sudbury, on a full-time and permanent basis.


The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the production engineering assembly function, ensuring efficient, safe, and high-quality manufacturing & supply processes. This role focuses on optimising production performance, managing engineering resources, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to meet business objectives. Ensuring that the Annual £15M orderbook is serviced within schedule & budget.


Roles & Responsibilities:
Production Management
*Plan, coordinate, and schedule engineering production activities to meet output, quality, and delivery targets.
*Ensure production schedules are achieved efficiently and on time.
*Oversee the procurement process to ensure value for money & accuracy.
*Liaise with other departments ensuring that the assembly team have the parts & services required.


Team Leadership
*Lead, develop, and manage a team of engineers, technicians, and procurement staff.
*Set clear objectives and conduct regular performance reviews.
*Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.


Process Improvement
*Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
*Analyse production data to identify trends and areas for optimisation.


Quality & Compliance
*Ensure all products meet required strict Aerospace quality standards and specifications. Maintain compliance with industry regulations, health & safety standards, and company policies.
*Promote a ’Just Culture’ attitude within the team.
*Support audits and implement corrective actions where necessary.


Resource & Capacity Planning
*Manage labour, materials, and equipment to maximise production efficiency.
*Oversee the procurement team to ensure material & parts availability.
*Provide support to allow the sales team to produce priced quotes with realistic, accurate lead-times.


Stakeholder Collaboration
*Provide focal point for team & supplier engineering queries & interact with other departments to ensure swift resolution.
*Support new product introductions (NPI) and engineering change processes.
*Provide regular updates to senior management for orderbook schedule & revenue targets.
*Act as the conduit between purchasing & purchase order authorisation.


Experience, Skills & Qualifications:
*Proven experience in a production or manufacturing engineering environment with £5-15M turnover.
*Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams.
*Experience with continuous improvement and process optimisation.
*Familiar with product design and manufacturing processes, material specifications (including raw materials) and costing methodologies.
*Strong leadership and people management skills.
*Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
*Knowledge of manufacturing processes and production planning.
*Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
*Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
*Impeccable attention to detail.
*Exceptional commercial awareness.


Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm (40 hours per week)
Salary: from £57,000
