SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support – Year 3)
Location: Central Bournemouth
Full-Time | Term-Time Only
We are looking to appoint a dedicated, compassionate, and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join one of our wonderful mainstream primary schools in the heart of Bournemouth. This rewarding full-time role involves providing 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil, helping them to access learning, build confidence, and thrive both academically and socially.

The Role
As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support a pupil with additional needs. You will play a key role in adapting learning activities, promoting engagement, and providing consistent emotional and behavioural support throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities
*Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil with special educational needs
*Adapt classroom activities to meet the pupil’s individual learning needs
*Support the development of social skills, emotional regulation, and independence
*Implement strategies outlined in the pupil’s EHCP (if applicable)
*Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals
*Monitor progress and contribute to observations and reports
*Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
About You
*Must be currently based in the UK
*Proven experience working with children with SEN, ideally in a primary school setting
*A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach
*Strong understanding of different learning needs (e.g. ASD, ADHD, speech & language needs)
*Confident in supporting behaviour and emotional regulation
*Good communication and teamwork skills
*A proactive and flexible attitude
*Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) are desirable
*An Enhanced Child-Only DBS on the Update Service is highly desirable; however, applicants must be willing to apply for one if not currently held
