Job Description:
Commercial Contracts Advisor required for our Ipswich based client who deliver a wide range of facilities services and support their client’s needs through the provision of multiple services under one roof. As Commercial Contracts advisor you will be part of their legal team reporting to the Group Legal Audit & Risk Advisor, primarily providing sound commercial contract advice to all stakeholders within the business. To be considered for these Commercial contracts advisor role you must possess a minimum of 2 years in this field as well as contract law experience and strong drafting and negotiation skills. This position can operate on a hybrid /flexible working model with the expectation that you would be able to work from the Ipswich Head office several days per week.


The Role
*Involved in pre-tender engagement positioning, advising on the existing contract landscape and any foreseen risks with the customer’s proposed tender documentation.
*Reviewing large tender framework agreements and call off contracts, licences and other legal agreements, providing a comprehensive risk assessment of the opportunity to the business.
*Advising and drafting on tender clarifications to help seek clarity or amend unacceptable risks.
*Proposing and agreeing mitigating strategies and ensuring contracts are commercially and legally robust
*Drafting, reviewing, contracts, licences, deeds and leases taking into consideration legal obligations and company policy.
*Provide guidance to the business development and operational teams regarding our preferred contract clauses, contractual rights and obligations.
*Drafting and negotiating variations to commercial contracts
*Keeping up to date with regulatory and statutory changes and policies or systems to help ensure good management of the company and compliance with legislation and obligations.
*Maintain a standard up to date suite of approved legal documentation and support the continued improvement of standard form agreements to be sent to customers.
*Work with the Heads of Service or departmental leads to ensure compliance and consistency with the agreed contract standards.


The Person
*Good academic background or specialist qualification.
*Minimum of 2 years’ experience within commercial contracts
*Must possess contract law experience and strong drafting and negotiation skills
*Trustworthy, discreet and diplomatic Commercial awareness and business acumen
*Understanding of legal document drafting and the significance of formatting
*Ability to maintain accurate records
*Have research and problem-solving skills to deal with queries and issues
*Excellent written communication skills
*Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential business information
*Reliable and an ability to plan and adapt own workload, taking responsibility for delivery of allocated tasks
