Agency Environmental Health OfficerPollution / Environmental Protection
Contract: 3-month rolling contract

Aatom Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Environmental Health Officer to work on behalf of a local authority on a 3-month rolling agency contract. This is a specialist role within a small Pollution / Environmental Protection team, focusing on technical, strategic, and project-based work.
Role OverviewThe successful candidate will have a strong background in pollution control and environmental protection, with particular expertise in noise-related planning consultations and regulatory processes. This is a non-reactive role and does not involve responding to general noise complaints.
Key Responsibilities*Lead on noise-related planning consultations, including assessment of development proposals
*Provide technical noise advice to Planning teams
*Manage and advise on Section 61 applications and derogations under the Control of Pollution Act
*Support air quality functions, including contributing to the implementation of the Council’s draft Air Quality Action Plan
*Assist with the public consultation process for air quality initiatives
*Contribute to water quality and environmental improvement projects, supporting cross-service and partnership working where required
Essential Skills & Experience*Qualified Environmental Health Officer or Pollution Officer with a strong environmental protection background
*Proven experience in noise planning consultations and Section 61 processes
*Sound knowledge of air quality management and action planning
*Ability to work independently and provide clear, professional technical advice
Desirable Experience*Experience of water quality issues and environmental improvement or regeneration projects
*Involvement in partnership-based or cross-service initiatives within a local authority setting
