Behaviour Buddy – (1:1 Support Role) – Wakefield (WF2)
We are seeking a resilient, patient, and compassionate Behaviour Buddy to work within a supportive primary school in Wakefield (WF2). This role is centred around providing dedicated 1:1 support for pupils who display challenging behaviour, helping them to engage positively with learning and develop essential social and emotional skills.
This is a highly rewarding position for someone who is passionate about making a real difference in a child’s day-to-day school experience.
Key Responsibilities:
*Providing consistent 1:1 support for a pupil with challenging behaviour
*Building a strong, trusting relationship to help the pupil feel safe and supported
*Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour using a calm and patient approach
*Supporting the pupil to stay engaged with learning activities throughout the day
*Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement behaviour strategies
*Encouraging positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social development
Requirements:
*Previous experience working with children with challenging behaviour, SEN, SEMH, or Autism
*A calm, resilient, and adaptable approach to behaviour management
*Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport quickly
*A genuine passion for supporting children who need additional guidance
*Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant) are desirable but not essential
