Job Description:
Interim Financial Controller / Finance Lead - 6 months
An opportunity to step into a high-impact leadership role within a fast-growing, PE-backed environment.
We’re partnering with a high-growth business operating as a c.£100m turnover standalone entity, entering a critical phase of expansion and investment. With major projects on the horizon — including significant infrastructure investment — they require an experienced interim to bring immediate control, clarity and leadership to the finance function.
This is a role for someone who thrives in pace, enjoys autonomy, and can confidently step into a business where their input will be felt from day one.
The Role
You’ll take ownership of financial control and reporting across multiple entities, acting as a steady, experienced hand during a key period.
You’ll be responsible for:
*Leading the year-end audit, acting as the key point of contact with external auditors
*Strengthening financial controls, reviewing postings and challenging processes to ensure robustness and accuracy
*Providing an independent assessment of the existing finance team, particularly senior management accountants
*Supporting leadership with clear, confident financial insight to aid decision-making
*Bringing structure, accountability and best practice into a growing and evolving environment
Why This Role Stands Out
*High autonomy - operate as a true number two / finance lead within the business
*Visible impact - your work will directly influence financial governance and future growth
*Growth environment - part of a business investing heavily in its next phase (including large-scale projects)
*Immediate influence - opportunity to shape both people and process quickly
The Candidate
This role will suit an experienced interim who is comfortable stepping into ambiguity and creating structure.
*Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
*Proven experience leading year-end audits and managing external auditors
*Strong track record of improving financial controls and governance
*Confident in challenging, influencing and assessing finance teams
*Able to hit the ground running with minimal handover
*Experience within PE-backed, multi-entity or high-growth environments is highly desirable
